Hi, I'm Brooke.
Founder of Malibu Nannies. Career nanny. Mom of two boys.
I started my career as a nanny for high-profile families across Los Angeles, including some of today’s most recognizable households. Those years gave me a front-row seat to what families in Malibu, Calabasas, and the Westside need from the people who help them raise their children.
But the story actually starts in Maine.
I was 15 years old. I couldn’t drive yet. I found a family on Craigslist with four kids who needed a mother’s helper, and I started showing up after school. That family became my second family. They taught me how to travel with kids, how siblings actually bond, how a mother holds it all together when no one’s watching. They took me on my first big trips. They welcomed a fifth child while I was there. They shaped everything I would later believe about what care looks like inside a home.
That was over fifteen years ago. We’re still close. Most of those kids are in college now. One of them has a baby of her own.
I tell that story because it’s the truest thing I can tell you about how I see this work. A nanny isn’t a service. She’s a person who becomes part of how a family lives.
So when I became a mom of two boys myself and watched the big, corporate-feeling agencies from the inside, I knew I had to build something different. Malibu Nannies is small on purpose. I personally interview every nanny we present. I run the references myself. I take a limited number of new families each season.
It’s slower. It’s also the entire point.
